That is really pretty. Does it have any finish or water on it?

All in all Australian Tonewoods and Tim specifically are a delight to work
with AND they have some of the most unique and exotic wood available
on the planet (under it too).
I'll second that. Tim is definitely my preferred wood supplier here in
Australia.

I'm using tiger myrtle bindings on my latest. A nice thing about this wood - the pores are so small you don't need to fill them

Wow, seriously beautiful. But is that really myrtile? It doesn't look like
any of the myrtle I've ever seen.

Hesh, I've only bent four bindings (all at the same time) so I'm not an expert with this wood by any means. That said, it bent really well, I took it very slowly 'cause I wasn't positive it wouldn't snap at the waist. I used a fox bender with light bulbs, I think more heat would have made me more comfortable, dunno if it would have made bending any better though.

James, this is Tasmanian Myrtle (Nothofagus cunninghamii) also called Myrtle Beech. It's not at all related to your northern hemisphere myrtle as far as I am aware.

Congrats on that great buy Hesh, all you'll need with this Tiger will be some Bear Claw, Ouch!

Really awesome wood, do you already know what kind of binding/purfling scheme you will use on this one?

As another very happy customer, i'll third that.

Tim Spittle is a great bloke to deal with and Australian Tonewoods is without question the very best tonewood dealer in Australia.

Great variety of unique woods sourced specifically for guitar building offered at great prices and backed up by honest and friendly service, you just can't beat that recipe, it will always win hands down.

Cheers

Kim

Hey Hesh, wipe some alcohol or naptha on there to see what it can look like under a finish. It takes on a whole different character to it. It's simply amazing under finish. It darkens up and looks spectacular.
You're gonna love it.

I have several sets from this board, and access to lots more:

I can't begin to tell you how great it is that we have a vendor shipping these great woods from across the planet. Tim is a tremedous asset for us here.Don Williams38861.3060648148

Serge EXCELLENT idea!! I have some nice bearclaw Lutz from our pal Shane that would make a great top.
Well then, the binding has to be tiger maple!

I think I would pick the darkest color in that wood and find a solid binding of that hue. Maybe a dark rosewood would be nice with an interesting purfling to match.
